Coleshill to host "The Jumbo Run"
Sunday 12th September 2010
Last year I had the pleasure of being involved with this event. I was totally amazed at how spectacular this event is. There were about 50 motorbikes and sidecars which took children out for the day to The Black Country Living Museum. Along with a further 100 motorcycles including Marshalls, Police and Paramedics, the convoy was really amazing.
This year the Jumbo Run will start from Coleshill Town Football Club, Packington Lane, and will convoy to Snibston Discovery Park in Coalville, Leicestershire. The convoy will leave Coleshill Town Football Club at 10 am and run through Coleshill High Street, down to the River Cole bridge and then onto the A446 to commence their journey to Snibston. They will return to the Football Club at approximately 5.30pm.
I wanted the whole of Coleshill to be aware that we are hosting such a spectacular event so that you all have the opportunity to see it. So put the date in your diary, Sunday 12th September. Come along to the High Street and wave your flags as the procession goes by at 10am. Or you can come along to the Football Club from 8.30am. Coleshill Town Band will be playing to start off the event which, in itself, is worth a visit.
JumboGB is a voluntary organisation who’s aim is to provide an annual outing to a suitable venue for children with disabilities and special needs. (Registered Charity No 506169). The children are taken to the venue on motorcycle combinations, 3-wheeled cars and trikes, escorted by Marshall Riders on solo motorcycles. The event will be supported by Warwickshire Police motorcycles, West Midlands Ambulance Service Motorcycle Paramedics and the RAC.
Jumbo is an international charity who also organise similar events all across Europe and go back as far as 1961 when JumboGB travelled from Coventry to visit Dudley Zoo. This year is their 49th Run.
Jumbo needs volunteers with Bikes, Trikes and Sidecars.
